February 1, 2026: Do Nothing, and Enjoy Everything

We went the Central Baptist Church. It was about a ten-minute walk.

Everyone there was very friendly. We knew that we would be challenged since the service would be in Spanish.

We sang Goodness of God in Spanish. We can testify that God transcends languages and speaks Spanish, too. He is alive and well in Latin America. Dios es bueno.
One woman took us under her wing and had us use her parallel Bible which has Spanish on one side of each page and English on the other.

These are the scriptures that were read:

  • Psalm 146
  • Psalm 100
  • 2 Samuel 6

The theme as best that we could tell is: Be joyful in the Lord. Amen to that.

Rob’s conclusion is that Baptist preachers yell no matter where they are in the world.

This wall hanging was at the entrance to our hotel. I decided to ask about it when we left. He was eager to tell me that it is BINGO. When I looked puzzled, he was surprised that I didn’t know Bingo. (I do but not like that.)

We took a transport to an all-inclusive resort called Secrets La Romana Resort and Spa. Rob chose this location since it is close to the embarcation port for our Caribbean cruise.

We were greeted by many locals. They told me that my Spanish was very good. Hey, that must have been because they discerned that I wasn’t a native speaker. Well, I will take it as a compliment anyway. We are trying to speak as much Spanish as possible.

The motto at the resort is: Do Nothing and Enjoy Everything.

My motto: Alrighty then!

How do you pronounce Caribbean? My late mother would say “Before you go to the Caribbean, it is pronounced

ka·ruh·bee·uhn

and after you have been there, it is pronounced

kr·i·bee·uhn!”

All you can eat food is available at all hours of the day. It seems like a cruise on land.  I brought five swimsuits. I hope that I can fit into any of them when all is fed and done!!?
