February 6, 2025 – Day 1 – On the Road Again, Way South of the Border

Today my brother and I arrived in Buenos Aires, Argentina. Edward has been here before, so in a way he’ll be my tour guide. We will spend a few days in Buenos Aires, then depart for …… a cruise to Antarctica! But more about that later.

We had a single flight connection through Dallas, then a direct flight to Buenos Aires. That city, indeed all of Argentina is two hours ahead of east coast USA time.

At our home airport I noticed that the handle on my suitcase wouldn’t go down. What a time for this to happen! The airline said that would not be a problem, that my suitcase would arrive successfully.

The handle was further damaged during transit. Then when the black part retracted, one side continued to stick out like a spear.
See my new suitcase.

The flight itself was fine, just a little delayed.

We enjoyed a massage at the connecting airport.

In Buenos Aires we took a 90-minute, 20-mile Uber ride to our hotel . There was a lot of traffic. We rerouted a couple of times. It is the first time that I have noticed Uber adding a time and distance surcharge to our bill.

Once at the hotel we enjoyed the view from our balcony overlooking the famous Recoleta Cemetary. Evita Perón is buried here.

A delicious Argentine steak dinner completed our day.
