Thursday, January 4, 2024: Day 332 – Boomer-angers

Well well well. Here we are; 1,387 days later. We will finish our year-long around-the-world adventure that we started on April 22, 2019. We had to return home then five weeks early due to a pandemic!!

As you may recall, we were leaving Australia on March 18, 2020 in order to enter New Zealand. They were still allowing people to come into the country, but one needed to quarantine in a hotel for two weeks. We didn’t think much would be open after that anyway so we decided that it was time to go home! We vowed that we would go to New Zealand some day in the future when it was safe and time allowed us to travel.

So Rob resurrected our original itinerary and added a few more weeks to include Tasmania. So you could say that these Boomers (a lot older and perhaps wiser) will boomerang back down under. We have some unfinished business.

We decided to get to the Norfolk Airport early since Uber had been late for our last airport travel and we had to cancel it and drive our own car.

We had a six-hour layover in Dallas. This is when having a Priority Pass pays off. All services are free to the cardholder (Me) and one guest (Rob).

We scheduled an hour in the Minute Suites. This is a quiet, dark room with a sofa bed for napping and phone charging. Next, on to the Be Relax Spa where we were treated to a half hour full-body chair massage. Lastly, to the lounge called The Club DFW for a light dinner of soup, fruit, hummus, and chocolate chip cookies. The time flew by and it was time to board. Dallas sure showed us a good time.

One final stop: Go to the bathroom. I was amazed that there were lights above the stalls on the ceiling. If the toilet was available, the light was green. If someone was in there, the light was red. No more stooping down to look for legs!!
