June 26, 2025: Through the Alps

Today we traveled by bus from San Marino to Rimini, Italy, which is on the coast of the Adriatic Sea. Then we took an Italian train to Bologna (spell: Oscar Meyer), Italy. Then an Austrian train through the Alps to Villach, Austria. Then a Slovenian train to Ljubljana. We boarded the bus in San Marino at 9:30am and arrived in Ljubljana at 10:30 pm.

These passengers are headed to Venice. Perhaps they are going to the Bezos-Sanchez Wedding … and traveling incognito.
In the dining car, the menu with the accompanying pictures was inviting and the prices were reasonable. Our waitress was very attentive.
Rob ordered Weiner schnitzel with Apple Strudel for dessert, of course.
On our Austrian Train, we had a spacious room. On the other side was a very amorous couple. We thought about showing them up!!!
What is a Kiss and Ride??? 💋💋 Maybe the couple should look into it!!
There were only a few people on the Slovenian train. It arrived after dark.

We contemplated taking a taxi since it was a 30-minute walk. I have always been told to not stop walking in the dark, and especially don’t look at a map or a phone. It looks like you don’t know where you are going. Then you are an easy mark.

Rob asked a taxi driver where the Holiday Inn Express was located. He pointed down the road with not a word about taking his taxi so away we went walking!!

The sidewalks are flat and smooth so it was quite easy. I have never seen so many bikes after dark.

The bikes are outfitted with bells and have their own designated lanes.
We turned off the main street and walked on. It was quiet and dark. See Rob ahead.
Has everyone gone to bed? There are no lights on in the houses.

The Holiday Inn Express is nestled in a suburban area. They were waiting for us. We were the last ones to check in!!!
