June 15, 2025: Balkans To Boot

Today is Father’s Day in the USA. The Premiere Sofia Airport Hotel had an extensive breakfast buffet for my hunter-gatherer husband. What a great sendoff for our flight today on Wizz Air!

The airport in Sofia is in town and between mountains which can create challenging wind patterns and turbulence.

While waiting for our airport shuttle, I heard talking, but I couldn’t tell where it was coming from. I looked up and here is what I saw. What a brave job. I hope that they doesn’t miss a spot!!

Overtourism protests are planned for today in many European cities including Naples. We don’t know if it will affect our flight or ground transportation.

No wonder the citizens of Naples are fed up. Look at this crowd at the airport.

Our abode is located in the Old City. (The New City is 300 years old.) The streets are narrow cobblestones with noisy speeding motorcycles!!

Here is our entryway. You can’t judge a book by its cover … nor an Airbnb by its entry way.

Calling the bed a loft is a stretch. It is more like a “bed aloft”…suspended overhead.

We have to carefully navigate the stairs at night due to darkness and lack of handrails … not to mention multiple trips to the bathroom. I have to vault over Rob!

We learned that poor people in Naples had a bathroom, small kitchen, and one room. I guess that this apartment used to belong to a poor person and now is a moneymaking Airbnb!! Who’s poor now??
