Thursday, September 19, 2024: Meghan and Harry

Last night it was so cold, rainy and windy, but we are headed to hot and dry.

We fly to Maun, Botswana. This city has a population of about 50,000 and exists due to tourism. Tourists fly into the airport to begin a safari.

The Lowdown

  • Setswana is the language that is spoken. English is the second official language.
  • Botswana is the name of the country.
  • Batswana is what the people are called when there are two or more.
  • Motswana is what one person is called.

Meno a Kwena was our tented camp. The name means Teeth of the Crocodile.

At the end of our supper, it is dark, and our guide walks us back to our tent with only a flashlight. We ask him what he would do if he saw something … throw the flashlight at it?? Haha!

The Boteti River used to run but now stops at Maun, which is 2 hours drive to the east.

“This is the tent where Harry and Meghan stayed when they were on safari.”

“You are in Tent #5!”

“Yes.”

“Really?”

“Google it.”

I must admit that I feel great pride when I sit down on the toilet. How many people can say that they have sat on the same toilet as Harry and Meghan. Certainly a topic of discussion. Might I call the result a Royal Flush??
