May 23, 2024: This is a Road Trip

Tennessee is a long state. We are traveling from Memphis, TN to Hendersonville, NC. A total driving time of 8 hours.

We lose an hour driving from Central Time to Eastern Time.

Traffic was inevitable. Nashville is always bad. However, accidents caused us to reroute through hill and dale twice. How could we do this or even know if not for our mapping programs that inform us. “One hour delay if you continue straight on the interstate.”

Construction is always a given and creates delays or, at a minimum, slow downs.

Rain in the forecast means downpours if you go through the Smokey Mountains.

And then there are accidents … and those can’t be predicted.

All the above means it is a fast food day with stops only for gas or bathroom breaks.

That’s life with a road trip but traveling along side by side with my sweetie is the best…

Oh, we ain’t got very much money, our clothes are ragged and funny, but we’re travelin’ along, singing a song, side by side.

Since we are in our car, we packed for 19 days of clothing. We did not want to do laundry. We are headed home with a carful of dirty clothes. We are taking the long way!!!
