Wednesday, February 28, 2024: Day 387 – Queues

These last days of February are confusing as it is leap year AND we are crossing the International date line. Rob worked very hard to calculate our travel. He either got it right or we will have no hotel room or two hotel rooms. Either way, it will be an adventure.

In Auckland, we slept late, shopped, and ate Mexican food. We watched the Jack Jumpers which is the Tasmanian professional basketball team.

Jack Jumpers are a type of ant. It jumps up to 3 inches and has a nasty bite.

The team sounds like a lot of fun. The fans sing The Ants Go Marching and chant March, March, March until the opposing team scores!!

We took an Uber to the airport about 3½ hours before our international flight to Tahiti. We witnessed long lines everywhere!

These identically dressed women are flight attendants from Singapore.
We waited in line to check in at Air Tahiti Nui for about 1½ hours.
Next, we waited in another queue where our boarding pass was scanned.
Then, there was a queue for passport control.

The fourth and final queue where I was not allowed to take a picture was security where our carryon luggage was scanned. We were lucky to get to the plane in time for boarding!!

Passengers were given an aromatic white flower to wear in their hair when boarding the aircraft.

After we received dinner, our friendly flight attendant came to offer us a beverage. She asked, “Red or white wine?” I guess that is expected when going to French Polynesia,
Our Tahitian welcoming committee at the airport. How fun!! I have never seen this type of greeting before.
Our hotel Kon Tiki. It has automatic drapes.
We made it!!!
