Wineglass Bay is part of the Freycinet Peninsula, an outcrop of wild, pristine coast land on Tasmania’s east coast. In the early 1800’s, there were whalers and sealers working and living in the area. The whalers towed the whales back to shore to be butchered. Whenever this happened, the bay would turn red with blood, like red wine in a glass.

On the drive back to Hobart, Evan told us this sad story. In 1975 the bulk carrier Lake Illawarra hit the pylons of the Hobart Tasmania Bridge and part of the middle collapsed. Cars went over the edge. One man with his wife and two young children stopped just short of the gulf when the guy behind hit him as he was not expecting a stop. Fortunately, the car remained on the bridge but teetered on the edge. He got his family out and tried to wave down others. Some swerved around him and drove over the edge.
All the Rivers Run is a miniseries set in Australia. My Brilliant Career was on the TV and is an Australian movie about being a young woman in rural Australia. A young Sam Neil was the male lead. We like to see what the locals are watching. I guess that it is similar to watching period pieces in the USA like Gone With the Wind.
