Monday, February 12, 2024: Day 371 – Super Bowl in New Zealand

The ride up the cable car gives the best view of Queenstown.
It’s a beautiful day of blue skies.
Many people are parasailing in tandem. I would be concerned about sticking the landing.
Inside the SkyView area, there were many works of art made with jelly beans. American Gothic used 20,000 jelly beans of 32 different colors!!
One is rewarded at the top by being able to ride the luge.
It was fun for both young and old.
This sign cracked me up. KFC must have some pull with the city!!
We couldn’t go into this building because it was only open one day a week. Gallipoli and WWI are greatly felt to this day.
Many Kiwi sons were lost in the war and every community acknowledged that. Service Above Self is also the motto of Rotary.
We take the bus from Queenstown to Te Anau to get closer to our boat rides on the Milford Sound and Doubtful. New Zealand’s Maori name is Aotearoa which means “land of the long white cloud”. It is well named. There has even been talk about a possible name change!!
Is this path through the park made just for tourists and their suitcases?
“Reading is to the mind as exercise is to the body.” They have combined both of them by reading Nanny Mihi and the Rainbow on placards on the walk through the park.
There is often a queen size bed and a twin. I always sleep on the right, use the towel on the right, etc so I know which one I get…the twin. It’s ok as we both get a good night’s sleep.
We watched the Super Bowl in our hotel room. There were no commercials here. We missed them as we like them almost more than the game. Also, once the game was done, there was no celebration coverage which was ok by me.
