Wednesday, February 7, 2024: Day 366 – It’s Jucy

We took an all-day bus ride from Christchurch (Canterbury region) to Lake Tekapo (Mackenzie). Our bus driver didn’t give commentary but was interesting anyway with his cross dressing attire.

Students take city buses to school. Wouldn’t this be a great idea in the USA since school buses are packed and city buses are empty.
Jucy specializes in camper vans. They are everywhere. We briefly considered a few days in a Jucy but couldn’t trust ourselves to drive on the “wrong” side of the road.

In New Zealand, if you see a Jucy van, you are to slug another like Slug Bug or Punch Buggy when you see a Volkswagen bug in the USA. We decided to give it a try, but after some bruises decided to amend the practice to kissing instead. It’s truly Juicy…and did I mention that there are a lot of Jucys.

At a bus stop in Geraldine, NZ, I was amazed by this driftwood Christmas tree. Isn’t Christmas over??
Here is our view from our hotel in Lake Tekapo. The water is so blue. It almost matches the sky!
The Church of the Good Shepherd has a great view of the lake and the mountains and was built by early settlers.
Effective and cheap advertisement! We thought that night markets only happened in Asia. We look around and most of the visitors to Lake Tekapo are Chinese. In fact, they are on vacation due to the upcoming Chinese New Year (of the Dragon). It all makes sense!!
When will we ever stop using “disposables” in the USA? New Zealand has got the right idea. And every restaurant has free water in reusable glasses. YAY!!
Day is done. What a beautiful ending to a beautiful day!
