Wednesday, May 15: Day 23 – Taken…for a Ride

After yesterday’s extended walking, we opted for taking one of these horse drawn carriages that are so prominent during the Feria. We searched online but could not find a location. We left our apartment and right outside there was a horse and carriage waiting for us. How exciting! I would have lept for joy had I the energy.

In barely discernable Spanish, I asked the shabbily dressed carriage driver how much would it cost to go to the Feria which is about a 30-minute walk.

The old man replied,”40 Euros”.

The price was steep but we thought that it would be an adventure. We jumped in and a young man joined our driver and turned around and said (I think) that it was 40 Euros to the Centre of the city and 60 Euros to the Feria.

I am not sure that we struck a deal but we’re Off.

So we get to the center of town. The driver stops and the young man says that we will need to pay 60 Euros to go all the way to the Feria. For that much money, we should look more like this:

I say Salida!! We exited or is that dismounted and walked the rest of the way…22 minutes!!

We strolled through the beautiful parks while we sang:
While strolling through the park one day
In the merry merry month of May
I was taken by surprise
By a pair of roguish eyes
In a moment my poor heart was stole away.

I did my best to have a pair of roguish eyes!

At last, the Feria!
