June 13, 2018 – Day 11 – Making Things

We rode the train for four hours through Fergana Valley passing beautiful hills, lakes, and rivers.

At our destination, Margilan, Uzbekistan, we stopped for some activities. Of course, Elle was involved.

This woman was making silk thread on her spinning wheel.

Here is Elle making silk fabric with a traditional Ikat pattern.

Next Elle used a weaving loom. Since it was her first time, it was difficult.

See how fast this woman goes.

Next we drove to the village Rishtan to the house of a well-known cermaic master Rustam Usmanov whose works are exhibited on world exhibitions. There Elle found making pottery was easier than weaving silk fabric.

Here is her finished bowl. She is so talented.

In the evening we drove to Fergana city to visit Akhmad Al-Fergani Park and stay overnight. We enjoyed a beautiful sunset.

What would you order from this dinner menu?
